the artisan collective: seven women, seven creative journeys, one shared story
from business bootcamp to creative sisterhood: seven women come together for their first group exhibition at cambridge artworks.
on wednesday 20 march 2024, seven women met for the first time at a business for creatives skills bootcamp in cambridge, organised by mastered, whose mission is to support creative professionals with one outcome - growth. none of them could have imagined quite how much their lives and businesses would grow as a result.
what began with the practicalities of building a creative business; goal setting, branding, marketing and strategy soon became something much more personal. as the women began sharing their experiences, conversations moved beyond business to the realities of going it alone: changing careers, starting from scratch, navigating personal challenges and battling self-doubt.
there were highs and lows, tears and laughter, problems to solve and plenty of cake. most importantly, there was encouragement. the seven women became one another’s cheerleaders, sounding boards and biggest supporters. as their friendship deepened, so did their belief in one another and the artisan collective was born.
now, their creative journeys are coming together for the first time in a group exhibition at cambridge artworks, 5 green’s road, cambridge, from friday 11th to sunday 13th december 2026
the exhibition brings together seven very different local creative practices and perspectives:
paula cawkill – bespoke cake designer
gabi gentile – artist working across paper, drawing and sculpture
elle golding – homeware designer
clare mcewan – contemporary painter
laura pearson-clark – multidisciplinary artist
nicola trudgeon – beauty specialist and aromatherapist
catherine wynne-powell – ceramicist
from painting and sculpture to ceramics, paper, homeware, bespoke cakes and wellbeing, visitors can expect a vibrant and eclectic celebration of creativity, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit. with christmas just around the corner, there will be plenty of opportunities to discover something special; whether you're looking for an original gift, a beautiful piece for your home or simply an inspiring way to spend an afternoon.
but this exhibition is about more than seven creative businesses. it is a celebration of connection, friendship, resilience and growth and what can happen when women come together, share their experiences and champion one another.
the artisan collective warmly invites you to come along, meet the makers, discover their work and hear the story behind the collective.
seven women. seven creative journeys. one remarkable friendship
